In this use case, we’ll consider the application of a fully integrated battery charger IC in tattoo pens

Newly designed tattoo pens offer a new generation of battery-operated devices that are compact, lightweight, and portable. Efficiency is imperative, as higher efficiency will result in less power losses and less current consumption, which will increase the battery life. This allows for greater flexibility of movement and allows for longer sessions.

Its “ship mode” feature allows the device to disconnect from the battery FET from the output. This is very useful to protect the battery from degrading, and is ideal for situations where products may sit on a retail shelf before sale, or face other extended timelines before use

MPS’ MP2733 is a 4.5A highly-integrated switching-mode battery charge management IC for single-cell Li-ion or Li-polymer batteries. Its “ship mode” feature allows the device to disconnect from the battery FET from the output. This is very useful to protect the battery from degrading, and will be appealing to many customers who have situations where their product may sit on a retail shelf before sale, or face other extended timelines before use.

On top of its many other features, the MP2733 also integrates an ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) with a 6 channel multiplexer, that allows it to accurately measure: input voltage, input current, system voltage, battery voltage, batfet current and NTC voltage. A rather unique feature for system monitoring, on top of this devices numerous safety options.

Additional features include:
