The MP2769 is an I2C/PMBus configurable, bidirectional, buck-boost, Li-ion battery charger controller with an integrated, synchronous, four-switch N-channel MOSFET driver that supports a wide input voltage (VIN) range up to 60V.
When the input is present, the MP2769 operates in charge mode. It measures the battery voltage (VBATT) and charges the battery with three phases: integrated battery charge cycle control with accurate VBATT regulation, integrated constant-current pre-charge, constant-current fast charge, and constant-voltage charge. Additional features include charge termination and auto-recharge.
The MP2769 also integrates the input current limit (IIN_LIM) and the minimum input voltage limit (VIN_LIM) to avoid overloading the input power source. This is compliant with USB and power delivery (PD) specifications.
The device can draw power from the battery to supply a wide voltage range (4V to 60V) at the IN pin when the MP2769 works in reverse operation. The device also has an IN output current limit in reverse operation (IINREV) with high resolution. These are compliant with USB PD specifications.
The MP2769 is compatible with USB standard power range (SPR) and extended power range (EPR) PD designs.
The MP2769's DC/DC stage provides automatic pulse-frequency modulation (PFM)/pulse-width modulation (PWM) selection mode, and a configurable switching frequency (fSW) with frequency spread spectrum (FSS), which supports high efficiency for light-load applications.
The MP2769 also features a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) hot and thermal shutdown function.
The MP2769 is available in a QFN-32 (5mmx6mm) package.
