The HFG612 is a quasi-resonant (Q_R) flyback regulator with an integrated GaN HEMT, which is suitable for high-performance and high-frequency designs. The key feature of the HFG612 family is lossless current sensing, which eliminates external sense resistors and guarantees higher efficiency.

The HFG612 is a secondary-side regulation (SSR)-based primary regulator and must work with secondary-side feedback circuitry. The device has an intelligent mode (CCM/QR/DCM) under different input and output conditions, which enables high efficiency across the wide power range.

The HFG612 integrates high-voltage start-up and X-capacitor discharger circuits, in addition to ultra-low quiescent current (I_Q) in burst mode. As a result, standby power consumption can be below 30mW.

The HFG612 adopts MPS's patented valley lock technique to restrain jumping from one valley to another during steady state operation, which can avoid audible noise completely. The wide supply voltage (V_CC) range makes the device suitable for applications with a wide output voltage (V_OUT) range without adding auxiliary winding.

The HFG612 features advanced protections, including primary-sense output over-voltage protection and under-voltage protection (ZCD OVP/UVP), V_CC over-voltage protection (V_CC OVP), output overload protection (OLP), current-sensing open/short protection (SOP/SSP), input over-voltage protection (HV OVP), internal thermal shutdown (OTP), and external protection shutdown (PEP).

The HFG612 is available in QFN-27 (7mmx7mm), QFN-28 (5mmx6mm), and SOIC14-9 packages.
