The MP5494 is a high-accuracy, high-integration analog front-end for photonics control. It integrates 4-channel, 12-bit current sources (IDACs); 12-channel, 12-bit configurable voltage outputs (VDACs); 12-channel multi-function input/outputs (I/Os) for voltage and current monitor input; and a 6-channel voltage analog-to-digital converter (ADC) input.
The IDACs provide a 300mA current source in each channel for laser diode driving, and the VDACs can provide configurable voltage for heaters with up to ±30mA of current capability. The photodetector (MPD) current monitor function can be supported by the multi-function I/Os, which feature selectable current-source and current-sink modes.
The MP5494 integrates a 12-bit ADC that can be selected to monitor the 12-channel multi-function I/O current or voltage, ADC1 through ADC6 voltage, IDAC1 through IDAC4 voltage, or the 4 power sources' voltages.
The MP5494 requires a minimal number of external components and is available in a space-saving WLCSP-56 (3.6mmx3.5mm) package.
