The MPQ76301FS-AEC1 is a 16-channel smart linear LED driver. Each channel is rated for up to 100mA of current, and 32 ICs can be cascaded together to create a 512-channel solution. The device is optimized for animated or dynamic lighting applications. It employs 12-bit pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming and 6-bit analog dimming register per channel, allowing for individual control of each channel. The 16 channels can be assigned to up to 4 different groups with independent dimming frequencies and duty cycles. The LED current ramp rate and phase shift between channels during PWM dimming can also be digitally configured. The MPQ76301FS-AEC1 is designed to function across distanced PCBs with a robust high-speed UART over CAN interface.
The MPQ76301FS-AEC1 features digital adaptive feedback controlTM (AFCTM) to maximize system efficiency and thermal performance. An integrated 8-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) can sense the LED string voltage (VLEDx). The pre-regulator's (buck voltage regulator's) output voltage can be adjusted based on this sensed voltage. Voltage across the channels can be minimized to a set value based on the headroom voltage.
The MPQ76301FS-AEC1 is ISO 26262 ASIL-B hardware-capable. Built-in self-testing (BIST) is implemented to perform self-diagnostics on critical analog and logic functions. It is developed under MPS's advanced MPSafeTM Functional Safety Product Development process, which has been independently certified to meet ISO 26262 guidelines. Protection features include LED open and short protection, ISET pin open and short protection, and over-temperature protection (OTP). If a fault occurs, the fault indicator (/FS) pulls low, and a matching fault register is set. A limp home state is utilized if communication is lost.
The MPQ76301FS-AEC1 is available in a TQFP-48 (7mmx7mm) package, and is AEC-Q100 qualified.
