The MPQ7794-AEC1 is an automotive-grade, low-EMI, 4-channel digital-input Class-D audio amplifier with I2C diagnostics.
Each channel of the MPQ7794-AEC1 utilizes a bridge-tied load (BTL) structure capable of delivering 25W/60W to speakers with a 14.4V/25V power supply (PVDD) (THD + N = 1%). The device also supports parallel BTL (PBTL) output with two channels in parallel, which delivers 50W/120W to speakers at 14.4V/25V (THD + N = 1%).
MPS Class-D audio amplifiers exhibit the high fidelity of Class-AB amplifiers at high efficiency. The switching frequency (fSW) can be set at about 400kHz or 2.2MHz. It achieves 90% efficiency for both low-frequency and high-frequency operations.
The MPQ7794-AEC1 supports 16-bit to 32-bit, 4-channel I2S, or 4/8-channel time division multiplexing (TDM) input with various input sampling rates. The device supports high-resolution (Hi-Res) audio with the 96kHz input sampling rate. A low-latency path is developed to reduce the digital stage delay.
The device integrates the DC load diagnostics to detect open-load, short-load, load-to-GND short, or load-to-PVDD short conditions. It also supports AC load diagnostics, which report the AC load impedance and phase. In addition, with an integrated analog-to-digital converter (ADC), the device can monitor the real-time current and report it via the TDM interface. The real-time diagnosis can also monitor the device impedance, device temperature, and the input voltage (VIN).
The MPQ7794-AEC1 provides full protections, including under-voltage protection (UVP), over-voltage protection (OVP), over-current protection (OCP), and over-temperature protection (OTP) with fault and warning indicators. The device statuscan also be reported to the microcontroller unit (MCU) via the I2C interface. The MPQ7794-AEC1 supports 1.8V or 3.3V logic input/output and 16 I2C addresses with two hardware pins.
Frequency spread spectrum (FSS) and configurable phase shift among multiple devices enables excellent EMI performance.
The MPQ7794-AEC1 is available in an SSOP56-EPR package with a reversed exposed thermal pad for a heatsink attachment. It is AEC-Q100 qualified.
