The MPQ3366C-AEC1 is a step-up controller with six channel current sources. The device is designed to drive white LED (WLED) arrays as backlighting for small- and medium-sized LCD panels.

The device uses peak current mode as its pulse-width modulation (PWM) control architecture to regulate the boost converter within the controller. Six channel current sources are applied to the LED cathode to adjust LED brightness. The MPQ3366C-AEC1 regulates the current in each LED string to the value set by an external current-setting resistor, with 2.5% current regulation accuracy between strings.

The MPQ3366C-AEC1 employs a strong gate driver signal for an external MOSFET, with selectable rising and falling times. It has a standard I²C digital interface for ease of use. The switching frequency (f_SW) can be configured via a resistor, the I²C interface, or an external clock. A low headroom voltage is provided to improve efficiency and IC thermal performance.

The device provides analog, PWM, and mixed dimming modes through a PWM input or internal registers. The dimming mode can be selected via the I²C interface. It also has a phase-shift function to reduce inrush current and eliminate audible noise during PWM dimming.

Rich protection features are designed to guarantee safe device operation. Protection modes include over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), over-temperature protection (OTP), output voltage (V_OUT) short-to-GND protection, LEDx short-to-GND protection, and LED short and open protection. The MPQ3366C can automatically decrease the LED current (I_LEDx) via detection on the negative temperature coefficient (NTC) pin.

The MPQ3366C-AEC1 is available in a QFN-24 (4mmx4mm) package, and is available in AEC-Q100 Grade 1.
