The MPQ70153FS-AEC1 is a low-noise, high switching frequency (fSW) power management integrated circuit (PMIC) optimized for powering monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) in automotive radar applications.
The device includes three individual step-down DC/DC converters with excellent transient performance and high efficiency. The step-down DC/DC converters support configurable fSW up to 17.6MHz to enable low-dropout regulator (LDO) free, low-noise power solutions with minimal or no passive filtering. A configurable frequency spread spectrum (FSS) function can dither fSW for improved EMI performance.
Safety mechanisms such as built-in self-testing (BIST) provide high diagnostic coverage, which help the system achieve its target ASIL rating. This part was developed under MPS's advanced MPSafeTM Functional Safety Product Development process, which has been independently certified to meet ISO 26262 guidelines.
A configurable watchdog timer (WDT) is implemented with window and question & answer (Q&A) modes. Built-in voltage monitoring is featured for the input voltage (VIN) and output voltage (VOUT) rails. An additional voltage monitor is included to monitor an external rail.
Protection features include input and output under-voltage lockout (UVLO) protection, over-voltage protection (OVP), under-voltage protection (UVP), output short-circuit protection (SCP), and thermal shutdown (TSD). The MPQ70153FS-AEC1 integrates SPI and I2C digital interfaces, as well as a one-time programmable (OTP) memory for configurability and flexibility.
The MPQ70153FS-AEC1 requires minimal external components and is available in a thermally enhanced TQFN-28 (5mmx5mm) package. It is available in AEC-Q100 Grade 1.
